WATER QUALITY MONITORING
Fifteen Neely Henry Lake Association members have been certified through Alabama Water
Watch to monitor the chemical characteristics of the lake water. The monitors gather data monthly
to measure six water quality parameters with a customized test kit. Air temperature, water
temperature, PH, dissolved oxygen, total alkalinity, total hardness and turbidity are recorded. The
results are sent to Auburn University where long-term water quality trends and specific problems
that need attention can be addressed.
Neely Henry Lake Association provides the test kits that are issued to the monitors and chemicals
are updated and refilled as needed.
Monitors undergo a six- hour training session conducted by Alabama Water Watch to become
certified. Sessions are conducted once a year, usually in the spring, for certification and recertification. Session information will be listed on this site when scheduled. For more information
