BREAKING NEWS!!! May 2016 Neely Henry Lake Association Members’ Meeting Date: Thursday, May 5, 2016 Time: 6:30PM Location: Rainbow City Community Center, 3702 Rainbow Drive Rainbow City, Al 35906 (Adjacent to the Rainbow City Library) The Neely Henry Lake Association will be meeting on Thursday, May 5, 2015, 6:30 p.m. at the Rainbow City Community Center 3702 Rainbow Drive, adjacent to the Rainbow City Library. Members of Alabama Power Company’s Environmental Affairs Department will be the featured speakers. The theme of their presentation will be the potential benefits to the Neely Henry Lake fishery of an expanded and improved fish habitat enhancement program. While the Neely Henry Lake Association has partnered with Alabama Power Company for many years placing fish habitat in the reservoir, it is probable, due to the lake’s age (50 years), that the fishery on Neely Henry Lake would be improved with an expanded/improved fish habitat enhancement program. Habitat enhancement has been utilized on many “aging” reservoirs throughout the United States and has proven to be successful when properly .implemented. In addition, improved fish habitat in a reservoir also involves promoting the growth of beneficial aquatic plants and recognizing detrimental plant species (invasive plants etc.) that can be damaging to the aquatic ecosystem. As always, the public is encouraged to attend.
